“People are fascinated by ancient cultures and the shamans and magicians who practice in mysterious ways. But along with this fascination, there is a kind of aversion to The New, as if it must be irrevocably tainted, as if nothing new and as yet uncreated could possibly match what once was. This is not only false, it is a form of psychic surrender. The psyche shows no faith in itself or its inherent power. Part of my work is reversing that defeatism.” (The Magician Awakes, Jon Rappoport)
Cosmologies are a dime a dozen.
Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Spinoza, Big Bang, String Theory…
Cosmology: a picture of the universe.
For many, many people, cosmology is permission to remain passive.
Cosmology is a content provider. People want content. Cosmology is like the nightly news. “Fill up the empty spaces, please.”
So…what about the free and independent individual? And more importantly, what is freedom for?
However we might answer that last question, freedom is certainly tuned to the future. It is the basis for The New, whatever that might be.
The New. People have decidedly mixed reactions to that concept, which is uncharted.
But the mind, consciousness, the psyche are not only looking for The New, they want to imagine it, invent it, create it.
That desire is inherent in the dynamic, electric, restless, wide-ranging, agile nature of consciousness.
Creating The New is the lifeblood of the individual and individual consciousness.
This has nothing to do with cosmology.
With enough sustained creation and invention, however, the individual will come to his own cosmological ideas and answers, in a natural way.
Nikola Tesla: “Our first endeavors are purely instinctive prompting of an imagination vivid and undisciplined. As we grow older reason asserts itself and we become more and more systematic and designing. But those early [imaginative] impulses, though not immediately productive, are of the greatest moment and may shape our very destinies. Indeed, I feel now that had I understood and cultivated instead of suppressing them, I would have added substantial value to my bequest to the world. But not until I had attained manhood did I realize that I was an inventor.”
Albert Einstein: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.”
The so-called “mysteries of genius” notwithstanding, every individual has something hidden away in his soul: an urge to create and project that creation out into the world.
There is no way to tell what will come of it, or what substance it contains, until imagination walks through the door, until the process begins, and gets underway…
No matter what circumstances he lives in, the individual wants to invent The New.
It is this desire, impulse, force that moves beyond any pre-set cosmology.
It is this impulse from which Tomorrow wants to be made.
It is this impulse which shuts down the Cosmological News Channel, and recognizes it for what it is: a second-hand metaphysical media outlet, owned and operated by the Reality Manufacturing Company, a subsidiary of We Create, You Absorb, Inc.
In 1961, decades before I started to work as a reporter, I was living in New York, I had just begun painting, and I was having conversations with an extraordinary healer, Richard Jenkins. (I write about Richard in my book, The Secret Behind Secret Societies.)
One day, at my studio, I was asking him about a few Hindu creation myths. He looked at me strangely, and then he said something to this effect: You’re here every day painting. What do you think that’s about? This isn’t ten thousand years ago. This is now. You’re making the future.

So so true. Enjoyed this writing immensely. That is my favorite Einstein quote. Your writing made me think about stepping out of my comfort zone. I find when I do this, no matter how small or big the steps are, it is scary but exhilarating to my body, mind and spirit. It brings in something new – fresh and unexpected. Imagination. That freeing energy draws and connects to others in a new way, which sparks something new ~ and with cosmic luck, sparks something new in them. Who can’t use a spark for the future?
This is an excellent piece! A few centuries ago, this degree of intelligence, articulated in a way that teaches people about the importance of realizing their own individuality, would have been considered “heretic” by stupid Catholics (oops), and could have put you at a risk of being burned alive. That is why I personally do not like religion, because there’s a limit to expressing one’s personal thoughts, beliefs or ideas (i.e., your own individuality), in any religion you can choose to believe in. They all have to have an agreement on a shared belief system collectively. And I don’t see any difference between organized religion and organized collectivism that the general public all agrees to live under as obedient citizens. It’s almost as if their god is the government that cannot be questioned and can do no wrong. But you have to be weak-minded to be fooled by the ones who are trying to “pull” you away from your own individuality. It’s done in a variety of methods, including through books (such as the Bible), churches, and so on. Basically, what they’re saying is “someone did and said this a long time ago, we should all do the same and follow them”… really. Don’t be afraid to be yourself(!)
“For many, many people, cosmology is permission to remain passive.”
Cosmology is a WELL-DUG RUT.
And also, many people will look for ANY excuse to be passive. Also known as lazy and unimaginative.
The Universe and Our Lives are too vast and incomprehensible and surrounded by infinite potentials to ever fit into something like a human-understood cosmology.
(Yet many folks have the gall to define GOD. That takes some stones, albeit impressibly foolish ones.)
“Creating The New is the lifeblood of the individual and individual consciousness.”
We are all Creating ALL THE TIME. It’s just that some of us are painting a new picture each moment and others keep painting the same damn picture over and over and over…
‘Oh look. You painted a ROCK. Didn’t you paint that same rock yesterday?’
‘Yes I did!’
‘So what are you going to paint tomorrow?’
‘A rock!’
‘The same one?’
‘YES!’
‘Will you ever paint anything other than that same rock?’
‘SURE! Next week, I’ll paint that rock FROM THE OTHER SIDE!’
‘My, you certainly are going wild now, aren’t you?…’
In his tremendous Novel, Stranger In A Strange Land, Author Robert A. Heinlein, Created a New Word.
Grok.
Essentially, this word, means to apprehend, the FULL meaning of something, from stem to stern, bypassing the normal 1-2-3 passaging, of typical logic & reasoning.
Mind you, there is nothing incorrect, with groking something. Nor, is there anything incorrect with using the standard, valuable, & “calculable” method of Logically & Reason.
These 2 Methodologies of Mind are inherent Powers of Mind.
They are always at Our disposal & use.
Their use, together, are NOT, mutually exclusive.
But, they must be awakened, experimented with, practiced, performed, & re-checked for consistency & accuracy.

The thing-of-it-is, is that, groking, is like LIGHTENING.

“Catch my soul,
Catch the very light”
“Spoke to me
In sweet accustomed ways”
“Mother life,
Hold firmly on to me
Catch my knowledge
Higher than the day
Release as much
As only you can show”
“All I know can be shown by your acceptance of the facts
There shown before you
Take what I say in a different way…”

In This Moment,
Of reading His Writing.
I reckon Poetic License, I say.)
“Simply put,
An Auger
Is a spiral-shaped tool
That is used
To drill holes
Into the ground
& Other surfaces or materials.
The spiraling
Metal shaft
With a blade at the end
Of the device
Is known
As A ‘FLIGHTING'”.

Listen to Dear Mr. Howe,
Build his Rhythm
His Reason
Then,
Bend his darling strings
At but then end…
Take Flight Ya’ll.
